Holiday Rehearsal

These are pictures from the 2010 Holiday rehearsals.  The actual Holiday Program was AWESOME!

Mrs. Boomershine's Class, 1st Grade 2010-2011

Here are some of the students on ukuleles and Orff instruments.  The girl in the last picture is Sylvia Swagger, and she is directing the colored bells piece from Christmas.  The kids got so good at it that I let them use the pointer stick and direct it, too!  The girl in pink with the book on the music stand is helping me out with an Orff lesson.  That's "Ten In the Bed," one of the children's books you bought us to use with the Orff instruments.

They earned a "choice day" about the time of St. Patrick's Day, and they chose Ukuleles.   "I Can Play the Ukulele."  They were awesome!

Here are some photos of our Music Classrooms throughout the year...

Working on the Yamaha Keyboards.

Our Music Teacher does lots of great things with the students, here are some additional photos as she has them working with music and scarves....  It's called "Bug In a Rug" when the kids get on the floor and cover the scarf over them.  They love it!  Other times they would throw the scarves and catch them in time with the music.  The last photos are on a mellow cool down song, and the kids follow her directions to fold the scarves into squares so they are ready for the next class.  These lessons came out of the Scarves, Parachutes, and Ribbons book by Artie Almeida.  It was a perfect, fun way to end the school year with the kids!

Here's to one great school year and looking forward to another.
